The crane plan specifies how a combination of equipment (cranes) and labor (defined in shifts) will work in a vessel. It combines many factors, such as equipment and labor availability, the vessel’s stowage and size, tidal restrictions, and crane productivity. This information is displayed in a graphical view showing crane and work-shift productivity over a period of time.
The crane plan automatically adjusts to real-time productivity, eliminating much of the guess work in planning crane activity over multiple shifts. For example, the crane plan automatically moves forward or backward on a time grid according to the actual progress of the work. In addition, you can view within an accuracy of a few container moves where the work will resume between work shifts.
Before you proceed with initializing the crane plan, you must plan the discharge and finalize your preplans or load plans. For more information, see the manual Navis N4: Vessel Administrator and User Guide.
To initialize the crane plan, you perform the following tasks:
Verify vessel visit details (on page 1)
Create crane work shifts (on page 1)
Link work shifts (on page 1)
Assign work queues to crane work shifts (on page 1)
